It was a BEAUTIFUL weekend in Charleston. High 70s and sunny. In January. Thank you, Mother Nature, for giving us this amazing weather on a weekend, too! (I hate when it’s gorgeous during the week and then rains on the weekend.)
I started my Friday with a great workout on the Ravenel Bridge. I am seriously obsessed with this bridge. The first time I drove over it (the day we moved to Charleston), I felt like I was in the Jetsons! I love walking/running over it.. it’s a great workout, AND the view is gorgeous.
On Friday afternoon, I met up with my boss and two of my coworkers for lunch at The Mustard Seed. This does not count against Eat In Month (in my mind) because 1. it was free and 2. it was for work. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Pasta, and it was delicious. I brought home at least half of it for Mike partly because there was no way I could’ve eaten all of that and I just don’t believe in wasting food, but mostly because I’m a great girlfriend.
I spent the rest of the afternoon working from my balcony.. wish I could do that every day. Friday night is pizza night, so Mike put a Publix organic pizza in the oven and opened a bottle of wine. I love pizza night!
Saturday started with a quick workout and then it was off to the beach! I have NEVER sat on a beach in my bathing suit in January. I guess there’s a first time for everything. The bathing suit only lasted for 30 minutes, but I was in shorts and a tee the rest of the time. A little reading, a little drinking, and a little color! If I wasn’t already in love with Charleston, Saturday afternoon sealed the deal.
After the beach, we met up with some friends at Juanita Greenberg’s to take advantage of their Restaurant Week menu (I allowed myself this cheat on Eat In Month because I would’ve missed Restaurant Week AGAIN if I didn’t). A pitcher of margaritas, chips and salsa, and two entrees for $20? You really can’t beat that. The guys wanted to watch the Ravens-Broncos game, too. What a game that ended up being!
Sunday was dubbed “National Cleaning Day” in my apartment. Not by me. Mike went on a cleaning spree, and I finally unpacked from our trip to Jersey (we’ve been back since New Year’s Eve). Our apartment is spotless now.. such a good feeling. It was another beautiful day so we headed to the bridge for a 3-mile walk and then off to Publix for our weekly grocery shop. The rest of the day was spent relaxing, reading, and watching football.
I finished Columbine! What an intense read. If you have ANY interest in what actually happened at Columbine High School back in 1999, I would recommend reading this book.
How was your weekend?
Any book suggestions?

The beach in January! I’m beyond jealous right now. And a free lunch from your boss definitely doesn’t count for Eat In Month, you can’t say no to free food!
GOOD LORD that weather sounds INCREDIBLE. Jealous!
i had no idea you were from charleston! my sister goes to school there, I wish i lived there.
Just for the last two years. It is so beautiful.. I love it.
I wish I could go to the beach right now!! I’m so jealous! I mean, I practically could I guess, since it’s 50 here today and that’s practically summertime for New England. But what a fun weekend
That pasta looks delicious!
Wow I’m so jealous you got to go to a beach! I wish!
I just finished the book Sarah’s Key last night and I highly highly recommend it!
That’s on my list! I haven’t heard a single bad review of it yet. Thanks for the rec!
